WORKSHOP |
Join us in beautiful, sunny Senegal to experience a holistic, culturally rich and spiritually enlightening workshop. Come experience drum, dance and ritual with Senegal’s elite instructors, directed by Master Drummer, Dancer & Yogi Ken Doumbia. Workshops in Mali and Gambia are also available, depending upon demand. We also provide yearly workshops to South India, where we provide an overview of the similarities between African and Indian cultures. |

The African Yoga classes are offered once a day, accompanied by live drumming. Those taking the workshop to enhance their drum knowledge will have the opportunity to drum at the yoga classes, as well as at the dance class in the afternoon.

The
African Drum classes will teach
jembé, jun-jun and sabar, the most
popular drums played in the regions
of Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea
Bissau, Mali, Burkina Faso, Liberia
and Ivory Coast.
The
African Dance classes will also
teach the jembé, jun-jun and sabar
styles of dance. Live drumming will
accompany every class. |
Private
Lessons will also be available for participants
to learn other West African instruments
such as the kora or balafon for a small
fee. 
Cultural
Activities and Festivities, including
story telling, rituals, guest artists
and visits to artists’ families’
home will fill the evenings and weekends
of the workshop. Weekend excursions to
Goree Island and Lac Rose are some of
the highlights of the trip.

ACCOMODATIONS |
|
Workshop space is located on beachfront property just outside of Dakar, with double-occupancy rooms. Three meals a day will be provided, prepared in Senegalese fashion. Vegetarian & Vegan dishes will also be available.

VACCINATIONS
|
|
A
vaccination for Yellow Fever is required. Other
vaccinations are recommended by the U.N. Health
Organizations. Contact your local passport office
for more information.
|
FEE
|
|
The total cost for drum, dance and yoga classes, room, board and ground transportation for four weeks is $2,000. Weekly options are available at $550 a week. Airfare is separate. Assistance is also available for locating inexpensive airfare. Please email for fee and payment arrangements.
